Paul Green (top, center) kept scrap paper in his pocket to collect  his observations on native wildflowers, like the daisy (top left) and trailing arbutus (top right); he compiled his research in his hand hewn cabin (opposite), now located on the grounds of the North Carolina Botanical Garden.
